If you don’t know the difference between flour and corn tortillas, you probably have not experienced authentic Mexican cuisine. Fortunately, however, Mexican food is becoming more and more popular all across the United States, with many different cuisines incorporating aspects of Mexican dishes and Mexican food. Tex-Mex is a particularly well known example of this fusion, which first occurred in the 1940s. By 2011, there were nearly 40,000 Mexican restaurants spread around the United States and even more that incorporated some aspect of Mexican cooking, like the difference between flour and corn tortillas. Where Do You Get Your Daily Cup of Coffee?

Paper coffee cups with lids

The short story is that you have purchased your first home coffee machine.

It is adorable.

The long story is that you have been in love with local coffee shops for nearly two decades. Everything from the wooden stir sticks to the environmentally friendly custom paper coffee cups, the daily money that you have spent on your favorite coffee drinks from the local shops has been a part of your monthly budget that you were certain you would never give up.

Your obsession with local coffee shops started with your weekly visits with your best friend when you were living in Mexico. You would go to the local coffee shop for free wifi, free air conditioning, and to eavesdrop on Mexican couples and business partners talk about their own home lives. You were lesson planning for the high school classes that you were teaching and dreaming of having the lives that the other coffee drinkers had already achieved. You loved both the purpose and the feel of the wooden stir sticks. You knew they were better for the environment than the plastic versions that are so other used at the big box coffee retailers.
Seven months into teaching abroad, you first saw your son’s dad. For you it was middle school love at first sight. And you were his type: not Mexican.

After your first date and numerous cafecitos later, this one particular local coffee shop became your place to stop by on the way to almost any adventure. He had this cute habit of delicately twirling the wooden stir stick between his fingers as he listened to your stories from the classroom. Like a baton, the wooden stir stick could keep moving between his fingers for minutes at a time, finally being tossed in the garbage on the way out of the shop. If you look, you still probably have some of the paper cup sleeves from some of those days. The wooden stir sticks, however, never left the store.

A couple of years later, the local coffee shop also became the place where you went to feel whole when you had lost a lot of sleep over arguments and the mistrust that had worked their way into your relationship. You needed the caffeine to feel alert for the upcoming school day.
For nearly 15 years, you have started nearly every day with a medium latte. Sometimes two when your anxiety was through the roof. The costs added up, but you loved the look and the feel of your second home, the coffee shop on the corner.

Over the past four years of pregnancy, graduate school, your marriage ending, moving internationally, becoming a single mom, moving back in with your parents, navigating five years of back taxes, failing the immigration process, transitioning back to the US, losing multiple family members, buying a house, and starting a business in addition to teaching, you have found a way to cope with your daily venti skinny vanilla latte.

For six years now, your students know you as the one with the white cup.
But today you got paid from that second job and you finally believe that you can make this positive change. The change from buying coffee that someone else makes for you to drinking coffee that you make at home with your new machine. You are finally ready to let go of your crutch. Your costly coping mechanism. Your vice.

You have always told yourself a latte a day was better than coping other ways. This daily purchase was the one luxury you did not give up when you entered the life of single parenthood. The cup from the local coffee shop had, in fact, become your trademark.
You, like so many Americans and the friends you left behind in Mexico, depend on coffee to start your day. The change, however, is that your contribution to the retail value of the U.S. coffee market is in purchasing this machine. The machine that you actually asked the store clerk to take a picture of for you. A close up of your smile and the boxed machine. You are still part of the estimated $48 billion that is spent on coffee products, it is just that now you have to buy your own wooden stir sticks!

5 Tips to Help Boost Sales for Your Coffee Shop

Paper coffee cups with lids

While certain food and beverage trends come and go, coffee shops are here to stay. In fact, statistics show that the retail value of the coffee market in the United States is valued at an estimated $48 billion dollars. However, it makes sense to want to do everything possible to ensure that your shop is obtaining a hefty share of revenue. With that in mind, here are five important tips to help increase sales in your coffee store.

  1. Setup a Station With Coffee Shop Necessities

Many coffee drinkers know how exactly how they want their beverage of choice prepared. In fact, statistics show that 65% of coffee drinkers prefer to add sugar, cream, or both to this beverage. Considering that, it’s wise to include a station in your coffee shop filled with places for creamer, sugar, stirrers, and lids. No one wants to be without stirrers to swirl around the sugar and cream sitting at the bottom of their cups. It’s always wise to ensure that you have more than enough plastic or wooden stir sticks for coffee drinkers.
  2. Include Delicious Treats by the Counter

Statistics show that, while 65% of all coffee is consumed during the morning hours, the remaining 35% is consumed at other times throughout the day. This means that you’ll likely be serving customers near both lunch and dinner hours. With that in mind, it’s wise to tempt hungry customers with an array of delicious treats somewhere near your shop’s counters.
  3. Always Offer Samples

If at all possible, offering samples to customers is a wise choice. That being said, it might difficult to prepare coffee samples for customers. However, you can easily set aside lunch and dessert treats for guests to sample. In many cases, customers won’t be able to have just one bite and will order the full sized item.
  4. Combine Food and Beverages Into Meal Packs

Many people ordering coffee throughout the day are those leading busy lives. This means that certain customers are going to want an entire meal as fast as possible. You’ll find it wise to ensure that customers know that your coffee shop has them taken care of. Having lunch packs that contain food and beverages that are already prepared will often be quite appealing to the customer with no time to spare.
  5. Consider Starting a Rewards Program

Customers want to feel like they are an integral part of your business. Considering that, it’s important to let customers know that they are appreciated and valued. With that in mind, you might want to consider starting some sort of loyalty program. This program can be as simple as ordering punch cards to give to customers. Each time said customer orders a drink or food item, their card receives a punch. After ordering a certain quantity of items, you could give the customer a free drink. These types of programs are incredibly popular and can definitely help bring more customers to your shop.

In conclusion, there are many ways to boost the popularity of your coffee shop. One of the most stressful situations a coffee shop owner can encounter takes places when supplies are out of stock. Making a bad impression on your customers could have them eventually choosing another coffee shop to visit. Therefore, it’s best to ensure that your coffee shop has a reliable supplier of everything from stirrers to disposable cups.

Peanuts come in four different varieties. You can get Valencia, Spanish, Runner, and Virginia peanuts. When people think of eating these legumes, they do not often think of the health benefits of eating peanuts.

  1. Peanuts are a great source of protein. This is one of the peanut facts that a lot of people know. A serving of peanuts is generally considered to be one ounce. This can also be measured as one handful. Eating one serving of peanuts will get you about seven grams of protein. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says one of the main benefits of eating peanuts is this protein power. If you are looking for a high protein snack, peanuts fit that bill.
  2. You can get your daily fill of biotin. Biotin has gone by the name of “vitamin H” but it is really part of the family of vitamins in the B complex family. It is used by a number of different processes inside the human body. It can even be a part of the regulation of a person’s genes. Peanuts have tons of biotin if you consume two ounces of the legumes, you will get more than 88% of your FDA recommended amount of the substance. Scientists say that biotin can help people with diabetes, some brain diseases, and multiple sclerosis. It is also crucial for women who are pregnant to get enough in their diet.
  3. If you want to get monosaturated fats, peanuts are great for that. Nuts and peanuts, which are not really nuts, are often avoided because they have a lot of fat in them. That is true but the fat content does not tell you the entire story. Peanuts have a lot of the kind of fat you want to get into your diet. You need healthy fat in your diet and that is what you get when you eat peanuts. If you look at the fat in peanuts, 80% of it is unsaturated. This is similar to the unsaturated fat content of olive oil. Research has shown that peanuts lower cholesterol because of the ration of unsaturated to saturated fat making this another one of the health benefits of eating peanuts.
  4. Peanuts have lots of antioxidants. Most people are aware of the antioxidants that are in red wine but many are not aware that peanuts have the same amount of these important substances. Antioxidants are good to reduce the damage done by free radicals (unstable molecules that have a charge) in the body. If you want to get the benefits of antioxidants that you would get from drinking red wine, you should grab some heart healthy peanuts. This is another one of the main health benefits of eating peanuts.
  5. Peanuts offer some protection from gallstones. When bile hardens in the gallbladder they form gallstones. Some people have more risk factors for developing them than other people. Some of those risk factors include being overweight or obese, being over the age of 40 years old, and eating a diet that has a lot of refined carbohydrates and a lot of calories. Women also have more of a chance of developing gallstones. Research has shown that one of the health benefits of eating peanuts is that it can keep people from developing gallstones. To get the best benefit from peanuts, people need to eat at least one serving each day.
  6. You can get your copper from peanuts. Copper is crucial for a number of processes in the human body and if you do not get enough of it, a lot of health issues and problems can develop. Many experts call this an “essential micronutrient.” The FDA recommends that people get at least 900 andmu;g each day. Every 100 grams of peanuts have about 1.283 milligrams of copper. Ice Cream Is a Perfect Way to Help Recognize a Birthday or Other Accomplishment

Gelato cup

It has been a long and difficult week.
After three days of state required student testing, the teachers and the parent volunteer organization wanted to find a way to celebrate the end of a week of hard work. And while the teachers were not especially willing to give up more teaching time, the idea of classroom ice cream parties seemed to be a great option. The parent group planned ahead and preordered ice cream cups printed with the school mascot and decorated with the school colors.
The paper ice cream cups are adorable, but the real treat was going to be the three popular flavors of ice cream and wide selection of toppings. In the end, the ice cream does not have any effect on how the tests scores will turn out, but it is a way to celebrate a week of hard work.
Finding a Way to Celebrate Life’s Big and Small Events Often Includes Ice Cream

We are a nation that likes to party. From birthdays to job promotions, celebrations are often more fun with a frozen treat. And while there are certainly more expensive and elaborate dessert options, ice cream cups are a universal way to connect with people of all ages. Consider some of these facts and figures about the way that ice cream is a part of everyone’s life, as well as the nation’s economy:

  • 28.5 is the average number of times that Americans will consume ice cream this year.
  • Vanilla remains the most popular flavor among consumers, according to a recent survey of International Ice Cream Association member companies. In fact, even with all of the other flavors that are available, vanilla remains the favorite of 28% of consumers.
  • 90% of U.S. households regularly indulge in a sweet, frozen treat.
  • 40% of Americans will eat ice cream in any given two-week period, according to research by NPD Group.
  • 9% of all the milk produced by American dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream.
  • Not surprising, June is the month when the most ice cream is produced and sold.

We all like to help those we care about and love celebrate their special days and their accomplishments. Fortunately, ice cream is an affordable and tasty way to accomplish this!

How Gourmet Catering Can Make Your Next Lunch Meeting a Big Hit

Gilroy catering

Businesses in the U.S. hold a collective 18 million meetings and events each year. Meetings are routinely viewed as the bane of an office worker’s workday. One easy way to make things more interesting is to offer gourmet lunch catering. Catering for events and meetings can remove a certain measure of stress during the planning process. In other words, you can rest easy knowing that the refreshments are someone else’s responsibility.

Are Employees Impressed With Gourmet Lunch Catering?

Most people are highly food motivated. Good food can improve a person’s mood. Event catering allows a company to focus on the details of their meeting, instead of worrying about the logistics of accommodating appetites. Here’s what to know when booking a catering company.

Figuring Out the Logistics of Serving a Hot Lunch.

It’s a piece of cake to pack a lunch for yourself. Not so easy to plan a lunch for 10, 20, or 50 employees. Keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold is not only preferable for taste, but is actually a matter of safety. Food items have an acceptable temperature range for safe consumption. When a food’s temperature falls in the unsafe zone for a certain amount of time it becomes unsafe to eat. This is vital information that every food server is required to know to be certified to safely serve food.

Pleasing Different Tastes: Thinking Outside the Box.

Gourmet lunch catering elevates the office lunch experience. A lackluster meeting that takes place over lunch might serve simple sandwiches, and maybe vegetable slices. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this type of lunch, however it’s not very exciting either. If an employee will be missing their lunch break for a meeting, it can impress many participants if the lunch is features something unexpected. But this shouldn’t be your concern if you are in charge of organizing the meeting. Making an interesting, delicious lunch is the responsibility of the catering company.

On average, the U.S. spends about $122 billion annually. The goal of a meeting is to pass along information, to collaborate ideas, and to make plans for the future actions of the business. This is information that requires full engagement from participants. Good catering can encourage people to perk up and pay attention.

More of a Good Thing How Sundaes Expand the Ice Cream Experience

Ice cream containers

Ice cream is still the favorite American dessert, and a good proportion of the nation?s dairy production of milk goes into the making of this sweet frozen treat. While vanilla is still the favorite flavor, desserts like sundaes that use ice cream add a mind-boggling variety of syrups, toppings, fruit and nuts to create delicious concoctions. With their distinctive glasses and spoons, ice cream sundaes have acquired a lasting place in popular culture. And of course, in the taste buds of millions of fans.

The most popular dessert
Ice cream is the most popular dessert in the U.S. On average, Americans eat ice cream 28.5 times a year, or nearly every week. For parties, picnics and celebrations of every kind, ice cream is an essential fixture. And you don?t really need a party or any company at all to eat ice cream. Solitary binges on butter pecan in front of the tv are the stuff of fond memories for a large number of people.
Luckily, American dairy farmers are up to the challenge of providing the vast quantities of milk needed to keep up with the demand for ice cream. Almost 9% of all the milk produced in the U.S. is used for making ice cream. Ice cream production maxes out in June, but continues year-round.

Ice cream sundaes and more
Other popular types of sweet frozen desserts are gelato and frozen yogurt. But neither is likely to topple ice cream from its perch on top of the list of favorite desserts. The favorite ice cream flavor is still vanilla. According to a survey by the International Ice Cream Association, member companies reported that 28% of their consumers prefer vanilla to other flavors.
Based on the idea that more of a good thing is even better, the ice cream sundae defines the American passion for ice cream. A sundae is made of ice cream, covered with sauce or syrup, and topped off with peanuts, whipped cream, sprinkles, cherries, or fruit like banana and pineapples. At least five cities in three states – Wisconsin, Illinois and New York – claim to be the birthplace of the sundae.

Some classic sundae recipes
Classic sundaes are served in their distinctive tulip-shaped glasses, with extra-long spoons to reach all the way to the bottom of the delicious concoction. Sundaes get their names from the syrup used to flavor the vanilla ice cream in the classic sundae, such as cherry, chocolate, strawberry, and raspberry. The maraschino cherry on top of the sundae is the finishing touch.
Then there are the famous variations. The banana split is a time-tested combination of a halved banana, with strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, chocolate and strawberry syrup, and topped with crushed pineapple, whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. The Knickerbocker Glory has layers of ice cream, jelly, and cream, with a topping of whipped cream, syrup, nuts and a cherry.

Ice cream sundaes, with their classic ingredients, glasses and spoons, have become an inextricable part of popular culture. Andy Warhol painted them, with an American flag planted on top, to indicate that it is your patriotic duty to eat sundaes. We couldn?t agree more.

Ice Cream Parties Are a Great Ice Breaker for All Kinds of Groups

Gelato cup

The two high school show choirs traveled more than six hours to meet at another competition. The fact that they had competed against each other twice already meant that the two teams were fairly familiar. One of the schools won the first time the met, and the other team won the second time they competed against each other. The directors had not consulted each other when they were scheduling their events for the year, but when they found out that their students would be competing against each other not once, not twice, but three times together, they decided that a little extra planning would be in order.

Instead of showing up at the out of town show choir competition as enemies, the directors hoped that they could help the students foster a friendship. As a result, the directors from the two different schools scheduled an ice cream party that could serve as a meet and greet. The plan was to allow the students to meet some of the musicians and dancers from the other school and develop relationships that would allow both teams to cheer for, and not against, each other.

The plan worked perfectly. After getting past a bit of awkwardness at first, the ice cream served as a perfect ice breaker. The tables were arranged by flavor and the chocolate ice cream lovers found themselves next to chocolate lovers from other schools. The paper ice cream cups were printed with inspirational messages and some even had funny questions that helped spark some interesting conversations.
Custom Paper Ice Cream Cups Help Create a Perfect Party
Whether you are trying to provide a perfect ice cream party for your own daughter or you are attempting to make sure that two groups have a relaxed setting to get to know each other, ice cream parties are a great solution. the fact that 90% of U.S. households regularly indulge in a sweet, dessertsupplies.com/c-75.aspx?searchEngineName=all-ice-cream-frozen-yogurt-and-gelato-cups” Title=”Disposable ice cream cups, Frozen yogurt spoons”>frozen treat is one indicator that ice cream is a perfect menu choice.
