Soy lecithin is a mixture of soy protein and fats. Usually, there is a lot more fat than soy. Soy lechithin is an incredibly versatile substance used by the food industry to protect a food’s flavor and improve its texture.

Soy lecithin can be found in everything from nutritional supplements to loaves of bread. They are also used in ice cream, chocolate candy, margarine, infant formula, dairy products, pancake mix, cake mix, and many baked goods. You can also buy it separately as a cooking agent to replace flour or cornstarch to thicken up salad dressings, dips, soups, sauces, smoothies, and chili.

Although too much fat is bad for you, cutting it out entirely is equally bad. The fats in soy lecithin contain nutrients like antioxidants. Some people do not like soy lecithin because it is mostly fat. However, it’s found in such small amounts in manufactured foods that it is not considered any kind of health risk. The only people who need to avoid it are those with a soy allergy.
