How to Cook Empanadas!

Flan recipe

Empanadas are an easy, delicious dish to make. If you have four mouths to feed and want to give them something hearty, savory, and all-around-delicious, give them empanadas. Here’s how you make them.

Get the Ingredients.

Obviously you’re going to need to get the ingredients of empanadas first before making them. This particular recipe calls for one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, half a pound of ground beef, half a cup of finely chopped yellow onion, a quarter cup of tomato sauce, six spanish olives, two tablespoons of sofrito, one packet of seasoning, two finely chopped cloves of garlic, half a teaspoon of dried oregano, one package of discos (pre-made shells for empanadas), and corn oil.

Cook the Beef.

Over medium heat, heat the your oil and beef in a large skillet, cooking it until it’s browned, which should take about 10 minutes. Then, add the onions and cook until they’re soft, and then about five minutes more. Add the tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, olives, sofrito, and the seasoning and stir those in to the mixture. Once it all thickens, simmer it on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes.

Add the Meat to the Discos.

Lightly flour a cutting board or other clean surface, and roll out the discos until they’re about half an inch bigger in diameter. Add about a tablespoon (or maybe more) of the filling, and close them so they’re a half moon shape. Moisten the edges with water, and then seal them shut by pinching them.

Fry Your Empanadas.

Last but not least, fry your empanadas in a deep saucepan that has about two and a half inches of oil, which has been heated over medium-high heat. Cook them until they’re golden, flipping them only once. This should take about five minutes, give or take.

And there you have it! A nice batch of delicious empanadas ready to eat. If you have any other recetas de comidas that you think make the best empanadas, feel free to share them in the comments!
